Disc Breaks with Llupa - 100 - 17th December 2009

Yep, this is the 100th Disc Breaks show and I thought there'd be no better tribute than to host a 4 hour retrospective mix of all the tunes that have inspired me over the last couple of years. Not strictly released in the last couple of years, more just a stack of tracks that have helped shape the sound of my show, sets and productions.

The last year has been particularly cool as started up the Disc Breaks guest mix series, so I'd like to thank all those that were kind enough to send me an exclusive guest mix and those that were even able to drop in to do one live, it's a long list but here we go... The Peepshow Ownerz, Neztic, Boonos, Jariten, The Scientifics, Retroid, DJ Marty B, Youthful Implants, 9b0, Luqas, Mesmer, BSD, Flip, Citizen.com, Helbot, Perpetual Present, D*Funk, Line Of Sight, Kultur and Colombo, Duane Barry and Yanix.

I'd also really like to give a big thanks to NSB Radio and all the NSB crew, who without their support there wouldn't be a Disc Breaks show. These guys and girls really do go the extra mile to make sure the station is live 24/7 and is growing, so thanks are definitely due. Finally, thanks to all the listeners around the world who have emailed, posted, downloaded and become regulars - thanks heaps for your support - there's nothing quite like getting random emails from the other side of the world from like minded people feeling the tunes

Here's to another 100 shows........

Here's the archive for those that didn't tune in live - 43 reasons why I love deep breaks. There were so many great tunes I didn't get to play 'cos I ran out of time, maybe I should do a part 2?..

Big ups to all in the chat and the surprise house guests too, really enjoyed this one

Disc Breaks with Llupa - 99 - ft. Yanix - 10th December 2009

This week see the return of the Disc Breaks guest mix series with Yanix who, along with his production partner Ghettface, have recently exploded on the breakbeat world with some solid releases backed up by an impressive array of remix artists all released on their own new label Ridiculoud Records. After hearing some of their tunes I had to hit them up for a guest mix as they like to play in the deep driving end of breakbeat that I love. Needless to say the mix Yanix has done is solid, so make sure you tune in to this one - it'll be the last guest mix of the year afterall.....

Disc Breaks with Llupa - 96 - ft. Duane Barry - 19th November 2009

The guest mix series continues here on the Disc Breaks show and this week we're very pleased to be bringing you an exclusive mix from one of the leaders in the Progressive Breaks scene - Duane Barry. I've been a fan of his particular sound for a while, always able to turn in a epic remix like his tweak of Mikas 'Haze' or a deep and melodic original like 'Cerulean Blue'. Recently he started up his own label Digital Sensation UK pushing his own brand of breaks and if the last couple of release are anything to go by it's going to have a long and epic future.. He's sent through an wickedly eclectic mix of deep driving melodic breaks, featuring a few tasters forthcoming on DSUK - make sure you catch this one

Duane Barry - a producer of progressive breaks and melodic, atmospheric electronica. Both his original tracks and remixes are renowned for their intricate layers of pads and strings, deep bass, swirling melodies and broken beats. As a producer, his tracks have received support from the finest on the progressive scene such as Jody Wisternoff, Stefan Anion, Arthur Deep, Retroid, Embliss, Aeron Aether, BETA, Coalesced, BreakZhead, Abdomen Burst and many more. His releases have consistently been in the top seller charts across a variety of download stores (Beatport, DJ Download etc) and in some cases even topping the Progressive Breaks charts so a big thank you to everyone for showing your support!

As a DJ, he likes his sets to be full of melodic breaks showcasing pumping basslines, stunning soundscapes and the finest in futuristic electronica. Ranging from pulsating pad and melody-driven tracks to speaker-shattering grooves with some vocal and electro elements in between. As well as presenting his own monthly show "Cosmic Refractions" on DanceRadioGlobal, he has also guested and done podcasts for Dance Radio, Proton, Pure.FM, TribalMixes, NSB Radio and the Breakonomics show on RTE Pulse.

Duane is also the owner and operator of label Digital Sensation UK - a label focussed on showcasing the very best in progressive and futuristic breaks. For more info have a look at the top friend :)

"We use music to study the past, analyse the present and contemplate the future. I want to write music that sounds like it is from a world beyond our world - beautiful and melodic, emotional and engaging." - Duane Barry

Disc Breaks with Llupa - 95 - ft. Kultur and Colombo - 12th November 2009

Spanish Breaks are definitely on the rise. One of the groups leading the charge are Kultur and Colombo and this week they're my guest mix artists here on the Disc Breaks show These guys came to my attention via their remix of Krapula Concept's Future Shock, since then they have released a stack of quality remixes and original tunes - always deep, always groovy - and have become a firm favourite of mine. Their most recent release on iBreaks Funk, Konflict, has done really well and I reckon we're going to hearing a lot more from them real soon...

KULTÜR and COLOMBO, two experienced producers of Spanish Breaks scene, join forces to give the best of themselves in a project initiated in 2006. Advocates of authentic Breaks movement, cool sounds and a varied musical spectrum, this duo is here to offer handy rhythms for everyone, far away from any underground curtain that serves to disadvantage the global Breaks scene.

His music is a clear reflection of the multiple electronic influences that flow through their veins: Good vibrations, and a danceable and attractive style that can surprise that sleeper sector of ravers who have waited years to enjoy the best electronic music.

Separately, both components have already obtained many successes in their country. KULTÜR is the instigator of the Spanish Breaks Scene, he started as Breaks DJ in 1995, getting in 2 years to turn this genre in the favourite of the ravers in Southern Spain, through the radio show “Mundo Evassion”, in which he was a collaborator from a state broadcaster.

Pioneer in creating labels purely of Breaks in Spain ("Weekend: Breaks records." 1999) it was in 2001 when he launched what would be his first own label "Reflexmusik", which later would have two sub-labels "Zeroes & Ones" and "Tum Tum Pak”. Throught these labels he published more than 60 releases (vinyl 12"s, mixed CDs), betting on young producers in the country. Since 1999, the number of releases placed on the market from its own labels, remixes for other musicians, and mixed CDs is around 80.

In 2002 he appeared in front of 14,000 Breaks ravers in the biggest event of this kind of music in the world, the 5th Anniversary of “Mundo Evassion” (Málaga - Spain).

He actually manages 3 new labels dedicated to launch digital releases: "Metamorph Muzik", "Logico Beatz" and "Kultura Breakz", latter share the name with his own weekly radio program, broadcast on iBreaks Radio every Thursday from 22h to 00h (UK time).

The other component of the project, COLOMBO, is a promising Spanish producer, which has showing his worth and his abilities in his compositions since 2000. He has published several productions under the label "Reflexmusik" getting a tremendous success and a great acceptance by DJs and Breakers. He can boast of having collaborated with different artists from various electronic genres in his musician career.

In short, KULTÜR + COLOMBO is a project that will fight fiercely to return the magnificence to the Breaks. Will it succeed?

Disc Breaks with Llupa - 93 - ft. Line Of Sight - 30th October 2009

This weeks the Disc Breaks guest mix series heads back to the East to bring an exclusive guest mix from Line Of Sight.

I first heard Line Of Sight through the Morphosis comp Evolved Breaks, for me it was one of the stand out tunes and I've been rinsing it sinc,. Then I was kindly sent his remix of New Order - Crystal and I was completely sold, so much so that I included both tunes in my recent Disc Breaks Session: 02 mix (which you can grab here - Disc Breaks Sessions: 02 ) This mix has neither tunes, but instead showcases some of his new tunes and remixes, needless to say, it's very tasty

Also - don't forget that due to daylight savings changes here and in the UK, my show is now 8-10pm Melbourne time - wouldn't want to miss it

George (Line of Sight), coming from Varna, Bulgaria, has been involved with music since his early teen ages. His sound is a tight blend of electro, nu-skool and progressive breaks - solid and deep but at the same time funky and energetic.

He started DJing in 2004 and quickly became known for his inventive, diverse and energy-driven DJ mixes. Since then Line of Sight has been playing at major events and venues in Bulgaria and abroad. He also performed together with names such as Ardisson, Kansas City Prophets, Stanton Warriors, Deekline etc..

In the beginning of 2008 Line of Sight focused on making his own music and a year later, one of his tracks - "Origin", was featured in "European Electro Bass Development: Phase I" compilation released by Subsonic Device. Soon after, another track by Line of Sight - "Stardust" appeared on Retroid's "Morphosis: Evolved Breaks" compilation. "Stardust" received some very warm reactions and climbed up to 26-th place on Beatport Breaks Top 100 during the first week following the release.

Currently Line of Sight is busy expanding his home studio and doing original works and remixes for Morphosis, Flextone, Scarcity Records etc.

Constantly looking for fresh sounds and drawing inspiration from a wide range of genres, Line of Sight is always trying to push his tracks to the next level while maintaining his unique, recognizable style.

Here's the archive if you missed the show live - cheers to Line Of Sight for a wicked mix!

Disc Breaks with Llupa - 92 - ft. D*Funk - 22nd October 2009

It's been guest-mix-a-rama recently here on the Disc Breaks show and this week we have a very special treat.... D*Funk is currently on tour here in Oz, blazing a trail through the finest breakbeat establishments in the country and is going to stop by Llupa studios to lay down a live guest mix just for you. He's still got a few dates left around Australia, so make sure you catch him, while you can.. ;)

Oct 24 2009 Halo - Hobart, Tasmania
Oct 30 2009 Destination? w/ Lee Coombs & D-Funk - Sydney, New South Wales
Nov 13 2009 Ambar - Perth, Western Australia

Doug Masters, aka D*Funk, got his first set of decks when he was 14 – way back in the mid-90s. After hours and hours of practice he played his first club gig, spinning jungle and techno before gravitating towards house after a night dancing to Tony De Vit.

At university he scored a residency at the Canal Club and Charlie Chester’s Mezzanine in Wolverhampton in the Midlands before heading to Ibiza to play the Mezzanine Bar and notorious clubs like El Divino & Es Paradis.

After moving to Bournemouth on the south coast of England in 2002 he started playing at various local house venues, but got a bit bored of straight 4/4beats and started getting into playing breakbeat, old skool hip-hop, funk, soul and disco. “I was playing at mainly house nights but I was playing a mix of house and breakbeat,” he recalls. “I was inspired by early Stanton Warriors stuff that fused breakbeat and house together. They seemed to be able to play breaks to a house crowd, so I thought I’d be able to as well.”

Punters loved it but venue owners weren’t so keen, so Doug started his own night in 2004 – Break Da House. It quickly established itself as one of the most essential nights out in the south, hosting top-notch acts like the Plump DJs, Stanton Warriors and Meat Katie. It was after striking up a friendship with one of the headline acts, the Dub Pistols Soundsystem, that Doug’s first release came about.

Barry Ashworth, notorious Dub Pistols hellraiser, hooked Doug up to release the ‘Electrotek EP’ on Westway – the label he runs with Carl Loben and Billy Borez of the Drum Monkeys. The lead cut was used on a TV ad in Portugal, hit No.2 on the Kiss FM Breakbeat Chart and sent Doug on his way as he’d now caught the production bug – big time.

Fast forward to 2009 and Doug has released tracks on Dusted Breaks, Nitrous, Dandy Kid and more on Westway, although he was proving himself to be so prolific that he had to start his own label too – Up:Start Music. The first release on Up:Start, the ‘Bust This EP’ featuring MC Manic, received highly favourable reviews and earned him plays on Annie Nightingale’s BBC Radio 1 show and Jay Cunning’s Kiss FM slot.

Another great achievement was being nominated for ‘Best Breakthrough DJ’ at the international Break beat awards (Breakspoll) in February 2009. Although he’s now been DJing for 15 years and didn’t win, it helped put him more on the map internationally and reflected the increased number of gigs outside of his south coast residency.

Picking up remix offers, spinning at festivals and holding down Break Da House will be preoccupying Doug over the summer of 2009 before he makes a big announcement at the end of the summer just before his autumn Australian tour.

He’s been at it a while, but there’s the sense that this talented DJ/producer has only just begun as he turns over a new chapter in his career. Watch this space……

Disc Breaks Sessions: 02

7 months and 7,000 hits after Sessions: 01, comes Sessions: 02 - a little longer between cups of tea than I wanted, but stoked with how well the first one was received :D

As per the last one this mix was inspired by the glut of quality deep breaks releases and artists that have seen the light of day recently and have got a good rinsing on my weekly Disc Breaks show on NSB Radio, it's been great to see a resurgence in the quality deep stuff being released and subsequently being well received by the greater breakbeat world. This mix is probably a little more 'peak' and a bit more proggy in parts, but stays true to the deep bass action I love and is chock full off new artists that have really set the scene alive.

Disc Breaks Sessions: 02 - bringing you the best from the deeper end of breaks.

Disc Breaks with Llupa - 90 - Scarcity Special - 8th October 2009[

The Disc Breaks guest mix series is stoked to be bringing you the launch of a great new label from Romanian breakbeat superstar Mesmer, Scarcity Records !

I've been a big fan of Mesmer's work for a while now and it's been great seeing his tunes reach a wider and wider audience, he definitely has his own style and one that seems to snag the minds of a lot of the breakbeat crew. When I then heard he was going to launch a label I got very excited, what angle would it take, who would be on it? Then I started getting the cheeky previews and damn it's gonna be good, if not great. The breadth of artists and styles he has encompassed mimics his own style of pushing forward thinking music with a soul and a groove and is a testament to the respect Mesmer receives from the breakbeat community.

big tings I tells ya

"Scarcity is the problem of infinite human needs and wants, in a world of finite resources. Society has insufficient productive resources to fulfill those wants and needs. In biology, scarcity can refer to the uncommonness or rarity of certain species. Such species are often protected in order to prevent extinction."

Scarcity was initiated by Romanian breakbeat producer Mesmer with the intention of taking a modern approach to the old-school sound, to modernize the classic breakbeat sound.
With an eclectic view, Scarcity will drop progressive breaks and tech house tunes for the dance floors worldwide while maintaining a catalogue of productions that sets a standard of quality.
If you like your beats dipped in lush melodies, acidic hooks and thunderous basslines, then this is a label worthy of your attention.
With planned releases and remixes from some of breakbeat's biggest artists such as BETA, The Peepshow Owners, Neztic, Johan Soh, Stefan Anion, Mesmer and many others, Scarcity is surely set to establish itself as a quality breaks label.
Our releases will stay true to our belief that breaks is powerful yet deep, making your mind and soul throb.

Felix Stone -Timelab + Mesmer, Llupa, Hellbot remixes

Felix Stone delivers a massive first release on Flextone Recordings... A producer of sublime breaks and nasty acid runs, Felix’s "Time Lab" is quality from start to finish, showing real depth and quality in his production. Felix has also put together the perfect team for remixing: Great big breaks here from Mesmer, Helbot, & Llupa and last but definitely not least Yura Popov & The F Project have cooked up some beautiful prog-house interpretations!!

http://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/content/release/detail/192616/Time%20Lab <-- clicky clicky ;)

Includes:

01. Original
02. Mesmer Remix
03. Helbot Remix
04. Llupa Remix
05. Yura Popov Remix
06. The F Project Remix

MASSIVE SUPPORT HERE:

Flash Brothers (Armada, Size, Curvve, Baroque, Bedrock, BugEyed, Cr2, Vandit) - Helbot remix is cool.

Stefan Anion (Proton, Distinct'ive, Polytechnic, Olaris, Pacific Front, Shiznit) - The original is very nice. Love the melody and the production is top notch. The Mesmer mix is a belter.

Sasha Le Monnier (C.O.U. Muzik, Source Of Gravity, Balkan Connection, Pangea U.K, Nightshade Music, LuPS) - Nice deep stuff from The F Project & lovely rolling warm prog house from Yura Popov!

Dj Samer (Pangea Records) - Popov Remix for me.

Alex Aguilar (BIT Records, Xela Digital, Jetlag) - Very nice release.

Retroid (Morphosis Records, Ego Shot Recordings, Bonzai, Existence, Pacific Front, System, Toes In The Sand, Tilth, Jetlag) - Wicked release! I like the original, Mesmer Remix and Llupa's Remix, will play them out!

Embliss (Proton, Armada, Morphosis Records, Mistiquemusic, Silk Digital, Green Martian) - Original mix in the bag!!

East Café (Mistiquemusic, Morphosis, Ocean Drive, Silk Digital) - Wow, great music! Llupa's remix is my fav, but the original has also got potential... and of course Yura's remix... it’s a perfect one to set the mood in the early hours. Funky piece of melodic deep house, hypnotic. These 3 stand out for me!

Lunar Shift (Electrofly, Ego Shot, Flextone Recordings, Bass Reflections, Supatronix Records, Big Square Records) - Original Mix - Nice sounds, strong drums, good tune to open a set with. The break down is well put together and drops back into the track with good effect.

The F Project Mix - I like the idea of having different styles in a remix package. This mix offers something different and has a good groove. One for a dark dirty house room at 2am - Lunar Shift

Lunar Shift Llupa Mix - Much more energy, riff moves along well, strong sounds. Breakdown has good suspense, similar to a trance track, but with more bite. -

Mobius (Ape Music, Dusted Breaks) - Flextone returns with a release from head honcho Felix Stone. The original of this is a progressive, light and musical affair. There is a fairly diverse range of remixes available on the package with the pick of the bunch being Mesmer's, who does what he does best with punchy beats and some warped bass.

Joe Fisher (BIT Records, Balkan Connection, Empro Music) - Mesmer and Original are my favorites! Sweet breakbeat.

Dingle (Baroque, Babylon, Workout, Jetlag Digital, Bellarine, Airport Route, Bonzai) - Yura Popov Remix has lush sounds.

Line of Sight (Morphosis Records, Flextone Recordings) - Amazing package overall! I'll play the original for sure, as well as Mesmer, Llupa and Helbot remixes! The progressive house mixes are really beautiful also!

Youthful Implants (Dead Famous, Sango Music, Flextone Recordings) - Absolutely loving this release. The original is fantastic and I will be playing but also really into the Llupa and Mesmer mixes. Both totally up my street and straight in the bag. Great stuff!

Duane Barry (Progressive Grooves, Polytechnic, Sundesire, Flextone Recordings, Future Lovers) - Mesmer, Helbot and Llupa remixes are all awesome !

Nick Stoynoff (Audio Logic, Particles, Nightshade Music) - Will support the Yura Popov remix, nice work there:)

Daniel Mahuad (Molecular, Perfecto Digital, RRBR, Silk, Jigsaw, Ocean Drive Records) - Great Music Here!

Ilya Malyuev (Vandit Records, Solaris Recordings, Armada Music, Silk, Arctic Wave) - Yura's remix is very good

Karton (Vacation Records, Sound Of Habib, Sango, Trans:verse) - Original and Mesmer remixes are really good.

Tommy Dee (LuPS,SoundTribe,Deepsessions,Underground Lessons) - My picks are the Original Mix and the Yura Popov Remix from this pack. The original is a really energetic progressive breaks track with some cool deep elements! Yura Popov remix is nice progressive house track with a great pumping bassline which driven the track very well. Will play these.

Disc Breaks with Llupa - 87 - ft. Perpetual Present - 10th September 2009

This week the Disc Breaks guest mix series is very pleased to be bringing you a stompin' set from rising tech funk star Perpetual Present!

This guy caught my attention with Girls & Devices, a slab of a wicked tech funk riding on a solid groove that just works every time. The next serving was Neutralize the Acid / Nothing Real which again clicked all the right buttons, Neutralize being my pic with it's low slunk groove and bleepy hypnotic lead. If you're a fan of breaks that sits firmly between tech and funk then make sure you're tuned in for this guest mix.

Neil Gray (aka Perpetual Present) - English producer, DJ and performer for a variety of electronic music genres. Influences come from a wide spectrum of styles and eras but generally the louder, fatter and funkier the better.

Making noises and experimenting with recording techniques since the mid 90s, Neil formed several bands in his misspent youth, playing either guitar, bass or drums. After graduating Electronics & Music Tech from York University in 2005 and discovering the delights of digital broken beats, he went on to help shape the direction of young label Acidphonic records.

Debut release 'Discoteca' in 2007 gained some underground support and recognition and demonstrated the progressive tech-funk breakbeat sound that is now associated with the label. The aim was simple; to provide some unique, chunky, dirty beats and bass for the modern dancefloor and beyond.

Support in the scene has grown steadily, charting no2 on trackitdown & Djdownload with 'Red Light On' and achieving a no1 spot with 'Girls & Devices' earlier this year. With Dj support from Plump Djs, General midi, Leeroy Thornhill, Ils, James Zabelia, Hexadecimal, BSD, Kultur, Toni Jarvis, expect to hear plenty of fresh tunes and remixes in the coming months.

Disc Breaks with Llupa - 86 - ft. Helbot - 27th June 2009

It's been a short break, but the Disc Breaks Guest Mix series kick off again this week with a great exclusive mix from Helbot!

Adding to the wave of quality deep tunage coming out of the east of Europe, these guys hail from Poland and stay true to the deep proggy style, but always with a slammin' breakbeat underneath. Earlier this year they released Deep Inside, one of my top 5 tunes of this year, and more recently turned in a great remix of Phrakture's 'In Absence'. They have a stack of new tunes and remixes forthcoming, with a couple of tasters in this mix, so if you're a fan of the deeper end of breaks, make sure you catch this one as you're gonna be hearing much more from these guys real soon!

Helbot was created in 2007 by two djs and producers (N.Kick and Sylah) from Poland. They are making better and better on progressive breaks/house scene. They are connected with Composure Records label from UK supported by Hybrid, Hernan Cattaneo, Deepsky and many more. Their first release called "Determinator" for a long time took top places of well know charts, presented on Proton Radio and Danceradio.gr. They gained recognition not only among arists but also journalists and reviewers.

Disc Breaks with Llupa ft BSD - 78 - 25th June 2009

Time for another installment of the Disc Breaks guest mix series - this time we have French newcomers BSD throwing down an exclusive mix chocked full Breakbeat awesomeness!

These guys have exploded on the breaks world this year, with their first single Funkdation going to number one on the Beatport breaks chart, massive support from Annie Nightingale and then their follow up releases doing just as well. The mix they're sent through is packed with BSD goodness, from their recent EP releases, through to the new tunage, boots and remixes - this is definitely one not to miss :D

There isn't a heap known about them, but I've ripped this from their myspace;

In 1998 we began creating our first Elektro productions with our own pc's. How bad they sounded! Now it's been 10 years and we have built our recording studio, with the best equipments and much more experience. We're 2 people crazy about the break beat dance electronics, We make our own songs, and also remix other people's works. We want the dancers to never stop moving their bodies to the rhythm of our productions and have a great time. We could tell all our achievements over these 10 years, but don't wanna bore you, we prefer you to listen to our new Elektros. We want you to enjoy what we do. If someone's interested in contacting us, be welcome to do it!

Disc Breaks with Llupa ft Luqas- 71 - 7th May 2009

Hot on the heels on recent Disc Breaks guest mixes from Eschericks and 9b0, we have another soon to be household breaks name - Luqas. This is going to be a big year for Luqas with a recent signing to Dead Famous Records and a gaggle of remixes about to drop that are already starting to cause a rumble. He's thrown down a great mix that'll give you a real indication of what to expect from this tech-funk padwan.

A veteran of the early Bristol breaks scene, LuQas, aka Luke Trott now plies his trade in Brighton England. Brought up on diet of grunge and metal, he was gradually drip fed dance music by enlightened friends and family (thanks sis!) and now has an unhealthy obsession with repetetive beats and squelchy beeps.

He has fronted a regular Saturday night show on nsbradio for the past 4 years, originally as part of the Checkout Djs, now alongside Pav and Toxic Shock representing the Slackers crew. Slackers Convention is a long-standing breaks (and other stuff) night in Brighton whre LuQas has been a resident for the past 3 years or so. With an adventurous party attitude the Slackers sorts have thrown parties here, there and everywhere with a notorious reputation for hedonistic misbehaviour. The Slackers show won't be tied down to one genre, and you can expect to hear tech-house, progressive, psy-trance and techno - be sure to check it out every Saturday 7-9pm GMT on http://www.nsbradio.co.uk.

LuQas has been busy beavering away in the studio and has tracks forthcoming on Hardplace Records, Yellowfinger Communications, Future Perfect and Dead Famous. Now signed to Dead Famous, expect to see plenty of deep techy remixes and originals from LuQas and others over the next few months, starting with his remix of Fisso and Spark's 'You Are Right' dropping very soon indeed.......

Disc Breaks with Llupa ft. 9b0 - 69 - 23rd April 2009

Back again this week with another Disc Breaks exclusive guest mix, this time we're lucky enough to have 9b0!

Over the last couple of years he has had releases out through Electrofly, Morphosis Records and Glack Audio - always pushing the deeper more melodic sounds. Most recently was Combine/Typewriter for Electrofly and doing the promo rounds at the moment is his latest out through Glack Audio - Antilightbulb, backed up with huge remixes by Beta and Retroid - watch for this when it drops!

When he sent the mix through he described it as 'Lots of glitch-hop, breakbeat and electronika (even some dubstep, glitch and ambient). 19 tracks in less than 60 minutes" - it is awesome, so make sure you're tuned in for this one :D

I also have to point out that he is the man behind all the quality Glack Audio artwork - his design work is very cool so make sure you check his site linked below AND he writes music software - yeah, the guy is seriously talented.

I was born under the name: Balázs Gyutai, but you probably know me as 9b0, which is still hard to remember and still none of you will be sure how to spell it even if you know the characters it is made of: 9 b 0 (nine B zero, and yes, spell it like this). It's generally the same, as you would like to write (B) without pressing shift on the english keyboard layout.

I'm connected with music since the first day i can remember, and try to produce some sounds, i can be proud of... since the first time i've been trying to play my fathers piano. Later i've got used to computers, it really did not take a long time to find a way to make some noise even there (on Commodore 64 with Future Composer, as i was 9-10). As the hardware evolved, i had more and more possibilities, but the requirements where growing as well. Therefore i was begging my brother to help me out (he's the best programmer i know, and he used to be that even as a child: strange guy). He helped me, wrote me my first synth (i was 15 at that time). Since then we founded the software company WWAYM, and i started to release my music, because i'm not that shy anymore and i feel, i reached the level, where i dont feel cheesy what i'm doing. Maybe there is a chance, that somebody, who's not the same person as me may like my stuff.

In the last few years i've started performing my live act, which is a hybrid DJ and live set, done with Ableton Live and a few plug-ins and lots of controllers (i require lots of knobs...). I try to rearrange the tracks from the artists i like live, and even try to mix elements from my music into the mix (and even my own tracks, and tracks of my own tracks).
I collected vinyls for years, liked to play them, but this means lot more work, and at the same time lot more fun to me (DJ-ing feels boring after this). I dont know, how much the audience is enjoying it, coz i simply have no time (and guts) to look at them while i play... my friends like it, but who can trust his friends in such questions... the most i can do is to hope, you'll enjoy it as much as i enjoy playing it.

That was a top show :D 9b0 has got some serious skills - if you didn't catch it live, here is the archive - well worth the DL!
