Disc Breaks with Llupa - 227 - ft. Growler - 27th December 2012

No holiday resting for us - this week on the DBS we have a wicked guest mix from Box Set Records head honcho - Growler. His first release Head Stereo caught my attention with it's focus on the deep solid groove that just builds and builds... His more recent release Skintillator is more on the four to the floor tip, but still with that relentless groove - needless to say I've become quite the fan. He's also one half of Phase Animator, which I only recently found out but considering the common themes I wasn't surprised as have been diggin' their stuff too. This one goes out to the ever growing Aussie Breaks scene!

Growler

Growler is and up-and-coming producer, and the founder of tech funk label Box Set Records. He is also one half of the tech funk DJ and production unit Phase Animator. Based out of Perth Australia, he has over 15 years of rocking dance floors under various DJ aliases. His musical experiences started many moons ago with forays into classical and jazz, moving on to rock and electronic music.

He has held DJ residencies and played smashing sets at DCs, Geisha, The Globe, The Leederville, Ambar and Heat amongst others. Way back from the G-Styles days he has been well known for the ability to smoothly and subtly crank the energy in the room. Production credits are starting to roll in, with Phase Animator winning the Thrust Remix Competition in 2012 with a cranking version of the Lee Coombs and Drumattic Twins track Tribal Tension. His latest track Skintillator has hit Beatport in December 2012 and features a hooky four-to-the-floor original along with a great breaks remix from Karl Sav.

You can hear his current DJ stylings on The Backyard Project on Friday nights (9pm to 11pm Australian WST) as a part of the Phase Animator Tech Funk Sessions.

Mixed bag from me, kicking of with some almost ambient... then heaps of the deep driving vibes with lots of new stuff!

Disc Breaks with Llupa - 226 - ft. Triple Agent- 20th December 2012

Keeping on the run of guest mixes, this week we feature the return of the mighty Triple Agent! We last had him on the show in June 2010 and since then he has been honing his skillz and carving himself a solid name in the psybreaks community with both his releases and the label he co-runs Logariddim. He recently dropped a Double A side on us in the form of Pistols & Spaceships / Undervelt - both of which have done some serious damage all over the shot, so I asked him if he'd like to grace the show again - he did and here it is. Featuring new stuff from him on Logariddim and Broken Robot, plus a stack of other exclusives this is one not to miss for all those who like their breaks head down driving and layered with the psyness...

Triple Agent

Luk Schmid was infected by the electronical virus since 1996. At that time he mostly went to outdoor Techno parties, Drum n Bass events and he played guitar in a band. The influence of different music styles was as formative that he eventually found his way to Breakbeats & Tech-Funk. In 2005 he established Dirty Beats DJ Comboì with his friends and DJís Maxterì & Zide Kickì and began to organise Breaks and Tech-funk parties. Dirtybeatsì has been the ideal platform for improving his DJ skills and for socializing. In 2006 Luk took a first try on the synths. The musical odyssey has begun and it didnít took long until he found his own style. Former influences from Progressive & Goa Trance have been noticeable in his productions and the combination of impulsive breakbeats and psychedelic leads became essential. The Triple Agent Project was born.

In the year 2011 he has founded his own Psybreaks & Tech-Funk Record Label "Logariddim" together with his very good friend Pascal (Pascal Inc.) Shortly after "Logariddim Records" became nominated as "best new Label" at "Breakspoll International Breakbeats Awards" in 2012.

These days Luk established another DJ/producer project called Millivolt which focuses on Progressive Trance and zenonesque Techno.

Lots of cool deep chunky tracks around at the moment, so a bit of a diverse set from me - even has some techno thrown in - before closing with some solid psy in readiness for the wicked Triple Agent guest mix which was, well.... wicked! Such a solid mix of all things driving and psy tinged showcasing his recent EP out on Logariddim Records plus a stack of tasty exclusives.

Big holiday love to the extended Disc Breaks family - hope you all have a great break and we won't be missing a beat with the show going out live on the 27th. So, if you need a break from the family - you know where to go ;)

Disc Breaks with Llupa - 225 - ft. Fisso & Spark - 13th December 2012

Got a great guest mix you all this week in the shape of an album showcase from the mighty Fisso & Spark! I've been a solid fan of their work and when the long player hit my inbox I was damn excited and once I heard it I had to get them on the show. It's a proper album with a greta journey and mixture of vibes and tempos really showcasing the guys skills. The album is called 'Future" and is out now on Ground Level Records - I strongly advise you to check it out.... and buy it!

Out now on Beatport - http://www.beatport.com/release/future/999079

Fisso & Spark - 'Future'

Fisso & Spark need little introduction. From their home in Vienna, Austria, they have been firing out a whole host of breakbeat infused bombs over the last couple of years, hitting out on some of the best labels in the modern breakbeat landscape. Following the success of their tracks Freefall and Gypsy Fever on Ground Level earlier this year we are excited to bring you their debut album, Future.

Future sees the Fisso & Spark sound come of age, combining the euphoric pads and uplifting melodies they are known for with newer elements. From the digital funk of Dynamics, to the low end filth of Yeah Boy, via the vocal excursions of Come With Me and You Can Do It, Future is an exhilarating listen from start to finish.

Disc Breaks with Llupa ft. Andy Faze & AP3X - 224 - 6th December 2012

This week we have our first double Guest Mix to celebrate the recent Oxygen EP release out now on In Bloom Recordings. As the EP features the mighty talents of Andy Faze, AP3X and myself via 2 collaborations we thought it best to showcase a mix from everybody - gotta love a 3 way

Oxygen EP

North meets south on this intercontinental effort to bring you more of the high level breakbeat we at In Bloom Recordings continually endevor to deliver. This time around Derby native and psy breaks stalwart Andy Faze, joins forces with Australian breaks ambassador Llupa and New Zealands "name to watch" AP3X for a vacume sealed package manifested in the form of the "Oxygen EP".

Download it now from:BEATPORT TRACKITDOWN JUNODOWNLOAD

Andy Faze & Llupa - Empty Your Mind

Empty Your Mind is a journey deep into melodic psy tipped breakbeat territory with all the energy required to make it through the labrynthian maze of synth sorcery. With the signature, fine tuned driving psy bass that has made Andy Faze infamous paired with Llupa's undeniable ability to bring a whole other level of depth and progression. This is the the kind of mind melting tune you could lose yourself in with the possibility of never finding the way out.

Andy Faze & AP3X - Inhale

Inhale strips everything back and heads right toward the bottom of the rabbit hole summoning the primal urge to move. Andy Faze brings depth and melody to AP3X's progressively evolving, minimal, hypnotic groove that is lazer pointed at your subconsious with a reassuring tribal warmth but an obvious dark undertone.

some feedback:

DR FISH:
Thanks guys. Loving inhale. Amazing dark tech beauty. Full support!

HEDFLUX:
Excellent work!

KWAH:
Thanks to you In Bloom for this excellent release! Both tracks very hypnotic, but Inhale steals the show with deep massaging bass and well trippy textures. Ap3x and Andy Faze is an inspired combo! Empty your mind is also very nice, will probably get dropped also but thats one for a prog set.

CHARLIE KANE:
Really liking both of these, awesome stuff!

NEURODRIVER:
Liking these two tracks, good work!

MR CID (WARPED RECORDINGS):
Lovely release here from InBloom - My favourite has to be 'Inhale', great production from both Ap3x and Andy Faze!

BL1TZ:
Another In Bloom release, another full quality release!!! Empty Your Mind it's perfect for djing, I love the breakdown with the spoken vocals. Inhale is a track for close the eyes and listening quietly in home, this is real psy breaks!!

DIMA PAVLENKO (RUNE RECORDINGS):
loving both the tracks, but must pick 'Inhale' by AP3X and Andy Faze. Great production from here - deep and wavy bassline, shaky rhythm-section and sexy vocal samples - proper tune for me.

FISSO & SPARK:
Huge release! Will support for sure Thanks!

BOBALINO (BREAK WIND):
Liking this release, i prefere the Llupa and Andy Faze track out the 2, nice blend of progressive and Psy Breaks keeping it real deep.

MORGAN JAY:
I'm always biased towards liking Ap3x's tunes cause he's a good mate, but this is definitely one of his best and has his deeper sound to it that I think he's develping. Empty Your Mind is my favourite of the two though, with its bouncy bassline and well placed vocal stabs.

BAD TANGO:
Wickeeeeed! Deep and techy shiz!
